Kiss my Plan doesn't want your data.
As less as possible.
Because data is for targeted ads.
And Kiss my Plan hates targeted ads.

Here at Kiss my Plan, we have a great ambition : make a change in Internet's advertising method.
We don't like the way it is done right now. We don't like companies tracking their users' habits, to get from them as much personal data as possible in order to deliver them targeted ads.
  • Because we think getting and storing data from users all around the world can be dangerous. Who knows, this data could be at some point stolen by a bad person, working for bad purposes, bad companies or bad governments. Maybe not now, maybe in 20 years, it doesn't matter : once your data is on a server, it can stays for a looong long time.
  • Because we don't like selling this data to other companies or governments under the table, like a lot fo. We don't like this kind of business. Really not.
  • Because we think targeted ads are not a good practice of advertisement. Targeted ads make people have to think less and less about what people want or need. They give on a platter what they think you need, in regards of what you did before. It makes people lazier and lazier, which is wrong. It's wrong because what's difficult, challenging, but interesting, in our human life, is the burden of choices all life long. Choosing is hard, and it requires some practice. Targeted ads are completely against human development.

Kiss my Plan still needs some of your data

Kiss my Plan is a plans management app. You can create plans, invite your friends to your plans, and participate to other plans. Therefore, the data we need from you would be for :
  • Identifying you
  • Providing you with the events (including event's own informations, guests, admins, chat, etc.) you participate in.

How does Kiss my Plan identify you

Email
But we don't use your email for anything else than identifying you. We don't send you any email, we don't sell your email to anyone, we don't use your email for targeted ads, we don't use your email for anything else than identifying you.
What is important to remember here : we don't care about your name, your age (but the app is distributed to minimum 13 years old persons), the color of your hair nor the size of your nose. We don't want to know anything about you : that's your privacy.

How Kiss my Plan send plans to you

Before you get Kiss my Plan, maybe you received a text message from a host letting you know of his/her plan.
Then you can also register to Push Notifications. If so, we store a special id (a token) used by the Push Notifications providers (Apple for iOS and Google for Android).

How do I get friends on Kiss my Plan

The easiest way to get friends is to match your phone's contacts (name, email and phone number) with the ones on Kiss my Plan. We also store your contacts in your profile so that when one of them is joiningKiss my Plan, we can let you know.
Then you can also register to Push Notifications. If so, we store a special id (a token) used by the Push Notifications providers (Apple for iOS and Google for Android).

How long does Kiss my Plan keep the plans ?

For now, the plans are not automatically deleted yet once they are passed, because we didn't have the time to setup that feature yet, but it will come. The process might be that we delete any information we know that has been read by all users, and on top of that, at some point, the admin of the passed event is asked for its deletion in our database, if there are some users that don't go enough on Kiss my Plan.

What is Kiss my Plan policy about data encryption

We are not encryption expert as Kiss my Plan yet, so for now, nothing is encrypted yet, except the HTTPS transfer between our database and your phone.
But data encryption is a political debate, and we at Kiss my Plan have a position on it that we want to share with you here.
Why would we need data encryption for ? For the data not to be intercepted by any pirate, a priori well intended (like the police) or not (like a thief).
Why would we choose not to use data encryption in our database ? So that the police could intercept the terrorists using our app more easily.
We decided in Kiss my Plan that we prefer to protect the user from any pirates. Therefore, when we'll be technically fit, we'll encrypt everything that can be encrypted.
We think that if a pirate wants to get the data from an end user, it's not Kiss my Plan to provide the data, but the end user directly. There are enough techniques to phish so that a pirate can get his way.
